Your physical location can be an important factor when it comes to choosing an HVAC system. The climate in your area dictates how much heating and cooling you need. In fact, location factors can even get more specific than that. Even the neighborhood you live in can have an impact on your HVAC purchase. Here’s a few examples:
Homeowners Associations
If your neighborhood is run by a homeowners association (HOA), you may be subject to a number of restrictions in an effort to keep the neighborhood in prestine condition. This can include things like your home’s appearance, from the color of your front door to guidelines for your yard and landscaping. Being that most likely your AC system includes an outdoor unit, there may be a few stipulations on it as well.
Some requirements may include as to whether you place your outside unit on the ground or on the roof, as well as other requirements that keep your neighborhood looking great such as your grass, scrubs, and other obstructions surrounding it. None of these guidlines should impact which system you purchase. What might influence your purchase, however, is noise levels. If your HOA has noise guidelines, you may need to look for a unit that runs quietly, not to regularly be a nuisance to your neighbors.
