- Home Not Comfortable - A very common HVAC problem, warm air coming from the vents when set to cooling or cool air coming from vents when set to heat could be caused by a number of issues - some minor and some major. - System Runs Constantly - First, it would have to be determined if the system that seems to never switch off and runs continuously can be repaired and if so, is it a minor repair. The HVAC system may just need a maintenance tune-up or the homeowner may need to simply replace a faulty thermostat.
- System Is Under 10 Years Old - If your HVAC system is under ten years old and you have maintained regular maintenance, most likely, there is a factory warranty remaining to assist with any costly repairs. Your HVAC professional can assess and share the warranty coverage and cost to repair.

- Frequent and Costly Repairs- If you find yourself calling for repairs on a regular basis, chances are your older system is experiencing serious mechanical issues. It doesn’t make sense to keep putting money into a system that keeps breaking down. Our recommendation would be to replace it.
- Home Not Comfortable - If the repair is going to be expensive on an older system due to frequent low refrigerant issues, faulty compressor, heat exchanger, blower motor, etc., considering a new system would be a better choice. Once one repair is made, no guarantee that another expensive breakdown will not occur. Also, keep in mind that the older systems use the R-22 refrigerant and this product is being phased out due to environmental issues and the cost is extremely high.

Toward the end of its lifespan, an HVAC system has to work very hard to try and maintain the right temperature. When it can’t anymore, you’ll see a spike in energy usage. - Outdated Technology - Newer HVAC systems provide advanced technology, such as programmable thermostats, smart home integration, improved indoor air quality and more energy efficiency than an older system. Upgrading can provide you with more comfort and control.
- Home Renovations or Additions - If you've made significant changes to your home, such as additions or renovations, your older existing HVAC system may not be adequately sized for the new space. In such cases, upgrading to a larger or more efficient system may be necessary.
