Jackson and Son is a trusted contractor in Greenville, NC for Air Conditioning Services and Heating services. You can trust our technicians to be fully trained and licenced, professional and clean and treat your home and equipment with respect. We specialize in AC Repair, Energy Efficient AC Replacement, Indoor Air Filtration and many other HVAC related services.
A complete HVAC replacement costs between $5,000 and $10,000. The cost of the replacement unit covers installation, removal, and disposal. Your estimate is based on the kind you now have and the size of the system you intend to purchase. It may be less expensive than a completely new installation.
Clogged filters are one of the most typical causes of AC problems. Filters can become clogged by dirt, pet hair, pollen, and dust. When filters get blocked, the movement of air through your AC becomes restricted. As a consequence, your air conditioner does not efficiently chill your interior air. Filters that are clogged can also disrupt the operation of your system's interior evaporator coil and outdoor condenser unit.
The simplest method to avoid problems with clogged filters is to clean them on a regular basis and replace them as needed. We recommend that you replace them every three months. Those who have pets may need to change their filters more frequently.
If your indoor air is clean you should not see any of these three major warning signs.
- Coughing, along with difficulty breathing, are among the most common signs of poor air quality. The concentration of particles in the air may be the source of these respiratory difficulties due to a lack of ventilation. Without sufficient air circulation, fresh oxygen in the room will dwindle.
- Sneezing, along with coughing and breathing problems, is another sign. It may also be accompanied by watery eyes and nose and throat discomfort. These symptoms are also indicators of potential allergic responses.
- Too much dust! Make it a point to keep the dust buildup under control by cleaning on a regular basis. Investing in a basic feather duster and using it a few times each week will help keep dust and debris out of your home's air.

- Tech was informed that both gas pack RTUs were not operating upon arrival. - Front system: found a failed 75VA transformer and replaced for testing. Observed no other mechanical challenges. Received approval to replace transformer. - Rear system: Observed gas not reaching all the burners upon startup due to corroded burners. Received approval and cleaned all 11 burners. - Recommended replacing burners in both units and replacing both systems in the near future on account of age and condition. - Replaced batteries in the rear system thermostat. Both systems are operating normally at this time.
{2000 R-22 Carrier Gas Pack} Call: Heat isn’t working. - Tech found failed draft inducer capacitor and stuck draft wheel upon arrival. Inspected heat exchanger and observed several soft spots; no cracks or lacerations visible. - Observed rusted and corroded burner assembly; burners are not aligned properly with heat exchanger inlets due to misshapen bracket assembly. - Presented customer three options: (1) Full system replacement, (2) replace capacitor and burners and clean assembly, (3) Replace capacitor and clean burners with service agreement. Customer opted to replace the capacitor and invest in a premium service agreement (paid annually) for one system, and clean the burners during this visit. - Tech replaced corroded hardware in the burner assembly and confirmed proper operation. - Found very dirty 20x20x1 air filter and advised customer to replace. Removed filter to avoid air flow restrictions on the system and recommended replacing soon. Tech did not have proper size filter

*Under warranty until 2030* - Tech found dirty condenser coil upon arrival, causing low suction pressure when running in heat mode. Customer invested in a one system comfort plus service agreement. Tech cleaned the condenser coil, confirmed clean evaporator coil, fan speed, damper operation, filter drier, and air flow. Observed suction pressure was still low, due to failing outdoor TXV with ice formation. Observed normal operation in cooling mode. - System is performing with delta T reading 26 degrees, without heat strips. Advised customer that the system is operating, but the outdoor should be replaced before total failure (emailed estimate). - Customer stated that the system was displaying the same symptoms last winter - customer used emergency heat. - Customer will contact the office with decision on repairs. Performed CMA Filter change.
Found the system starting up on heat upon arrival, tech operated the system for 10 minutes and the system shut off afterwards. As system attempted to cycle heat again, tech noticed the gas was not opening due to not having a 24v signal from the board. The #3 wire of the polarized plug of the ignition control board controls the safety switches and gas valve voltage. Tech placed a contactor to have a visual inspection of the voltage and noticed the voltage moving from 17v to 0v to 5v, tech attempted to secure the wire and managed to have the system to only operate 2 heat cycles from the thermostat, on the 3rd attempt, the board LED was off and no heat call was being sent out. Tech found a faulty ignition control board, findings will be discussed with the office and will contact the customer about the challenges, customer believes the gas valve replacement was misdiagnosed. No charge due to recent visit.
